Pride of Cincinnati is excited to offer three Designer Edition Classes! Each class will be an hour-long, interactive meeting environment with Pride’s Design Team: Michael Gaines, Keith Potter, Andrew Toth and Brady Sanders! These classes are for anyone looking to learn more about how to develop a winter production for your group, or anyone simply interested to learn more about how Pride of Cincinnati’s team brings their memorable shows to the WGI floor!
MONDAY JULY 6 (8PM EDT) CLASS 1: CHOOSING A WINTER GUARD SHOW Class 1 will focus on the many considerations and choices that Pride’s Design Team goes through every season in the Summer planning months (that’s now!) that ultimately culminate in that year’s show concept. This part of the season is arguably the most consequential as a director or designer, and our goal in this hour is to offer insights and advice from Pride’s own experiences to help you feel prepared to pick the program that’s best for your team. $15 tickettailor.com/events/prideyouthdevelopmentfoundation
MONDAY JULY 13 (8PM EDT) CLASS 2: BRINGING YOUR SHOW TO LIFE Class 2 will be all about how Pride’s Design Team takes a show idea and uses it to inform the next steps of show design: Costuming and Floors, Staging, Choreography, and all the choices that take a show from an idea to reality throughout the late Fall and early Winter. $15 tickettailor.com/events/prideyouthdevelopmentfoundation
MONDAY JULY 20 (8PM EDT) CLASS 3: OPTIMIZING YOUR SHOW Class 3 will focus on all the design decisions everyone faces once a show has premiered and the competitive season has begun. You can learn about how Pride incorporates judges’ feedback (both commentary and scores) and how the entire team plays a part in deciding what changes and what doesn’t, how we keep improving to maximize our show concept and get the absolute best performances out of our members. $15 tickettailor.com/events/prideyouthdevelopmentfoundation
All Classes will be on Zoom, in password protected meetings, starting at 8pm Eastern and will last about an hour. All classes will be recorded, and we will email a link to the recording of your purchased class after the conclusion of the class. All classes will remain available to view through the conclusion of the Designer Edition Series at the end of July.
These classes are meant to be an interactive discussion. To get the discussion going, you can submit a question or questions related to the topic of the class when you buy your ticket (you’ll see a prompt when you’re checking out). If your question doesn’t fit in the character limit, please email them to [email protected], and we’ll add them.
If you’re looking to improve or brush up on your weapon tossing skills, you can learn from Pride of Cincinnati’s Weapon Technicians: Tyler Richards and Travis Speice! They will give you insights into how Pride uses weapon technique to improve toss quality and consistency as well as show you some approaches for learning or mastering more advanced catch positions and combined toss skills. This 90 minute clinic will begin on rifle, and about halfway through will move on to sabre.
The event will open at 3:00pm EDT, with class starting as soon as we get everyone into the meeting (it may take a few minutes for us to verify user name and password information). Tickets are $5. As a part of your ticket, you will also get access to a recording of the class we plan to make available on a private facebook page. The recording will be uploaded after the class and remain accessible for a week, in case you were unable to participate in the live meeting, or just want to go back and have another look!
This clinic will be happening on Zoom in a password-protected meeting. Once you purchase your ticket(s), you will receive a confirmation email with your Zoom invitation information. On the day of the event, you will receive a follow-up email with your password, and a facebook link to access the class recording.
All ticket purchases are non-refundable. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, Pride will make every effort to reschedule. (To help recoup the cost of credit card processing fees and online listing fees, tickets have a transaction fee of 0.95)
During turbulent times, movement can be an outlet for processing our thoughts and emotions. By our mission, the Pride Youth Development Foundation is called to create a safe haven through the performing arts. In light of recent events, we have chosen to adjust our previously planned programming to offer a free dance and flag class on Saturday, June 13. We invite you to join us as we connect through the common language of the marching arts: movement and spinning. Click HERE to learn more. We hope to see you there.
Recent events have deeply moved all of us at the Pride Youth Development Foundation. As we move forward, we want to assure you that the PYDF is more committed than ever to our mission: to provide a safe haven where youth can collaborate, create, and develop lifelong skills through the performing arts. In addition to our planned programming we are actively working to understand what opportunities exist to continue supporting and promoting diversity and equality within the marching arts and beyond. As we begin to post new content on our public platforms, we will remain connected and continue listening and learning.
We have spent a great deal of time thinking hard and long about the current state of affairs, and what role we are able to play in order to support positive change. This statement is just the beginning, and we intend to keep listening and learning. Now more than ever, we seek to find our strength in love.
